( PAST SEASON REVIEWED The concluding note struck by the president and secretary in the annual report of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club is that members can rest assured that everything will be - done I during the coming season to keep the 'club's name dn the high plane on which it stands today. The annual meeting of the club, which is to be held on the evening of September 28, will be the fifty-eighth. Though old in years, the club was i very vigorous last season, which the .report refers to as being a really successful one and states that progress is being made along the right lines. The membership showed an increase over previous years, and a pleasing feature ; was the added interest taken by members in club affairs. Members are asked to maintain this interest and endeavour to sign up as many new members as possible. A summary is given of the principal events of the season, beginning with | the club's korero at the opening of the season, and reference is made to leading performances by members of the club. ' I Under Miss J. Willson, the women's branch of the club ' had a successful season. Miss Willson is congratulated on gaining a place in the New Zealand and Wellington basketball teams. Special mention is made of the performances of Miss J. Sharp, who won the Pent Pendant and the Parson Rose Bowl. Training operations in the 1936-37 season are to.-be concentrated at the newly-acquiped Hataitai ground, and the co-operation of all members is desired. The ground will be open for training from October 12, and on October 17 the Wellington Centre is to hold an official opening gathering there. Mention is made of the severe loss sustained by the club by the untimely death of E. G. Sutherland, to whose widow, who for a long time has taken a keen interest in the club, the sincere sympathy of the club is extended. The winners of the club's challenge cups for the season 1935-36 were as follows: —D. J. Nathan Cup (field events), T. J. Crowe; P. J. Nathan Cup (most points in 220 yds), A. K. Welply; L. B. Webster Cup (special 220 yds), C. R Evans; Bell Cup (most points all round), A. R. Wilson; Duthie Cup (most points 100 yds to 440 yds), R. Kidd; Tan- | cred Cup (hurdles), J. McDonald: Tripp Cup (distance events), A. R. Wilson; I Oates Cud (cycling), no competition; i Fleming Cup (cycling), no competition.!
