SUNDAY RAIL-CARS

WAIRARAPA ROUTE UPPER HUTT SERVICE Regular rail-car services will be run on the Falmerston North, Woodville, Masterton, .Upper Hutt, Wellington route on Sundays, commencing tomorrow, said Mr. Mackley, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, today. .. ,;,,. . - r , ; "It is only, through the introduction of rail-cars that it has been possible to provide a reasonably economical and fast service. The time-table provided permits of a day's outing from Wellington (leaving 8.25 a.m.). via the Wairarapa line as far as Palmerston North-and after five hours there a return in the evening, reaching' Wellington just before. 10 p.m. For the convenience of Wairarapa residents visiting Wellington there are two morning rail-cars, • the first leaving Masterton at, 8 a.m. (Wellington arrive 10.15) and the second leaving Woodville at 7.15 (Masterton 8.35) and arriving Wellington 10.54 a.m. The return services leaving Wellington at 7 p.m. (Masterton'9;2o), Woodville arrive 10.39 p.m., and the second leaving Wellington at-8.50 p.m. and arriving. Masterton ,11.14 p.m. ( "We have also, been able to, provide rail-car,-.service between Upper riutt and Wellington," continued, Mr. Mackley,, ,''as ,in addition to the 'through' rail-car services already mentioned there are rail-cars leaving Wei-J lington at 10.30 a.m., 12.30, 2.30, 4.30, and 6.25 p.m. for Upper Hutt and there are also rail-cars leaving Upper Hutt for Wellington at 11.30 a.m., 1.30, 3.30, j 5.30, and 7.35 p.m. on Sundays.

"A new feature introduced in connection with the rail-cars has been the provision of a railway bus service, at Masterton .connecting with the railway services.. The Department has done all that it, can to make these services known, and to provide as ample a range as conditions appear to warrant. ,It now rests with the public to decide by their patronage whether the proposed facilities on Sundays to and from the Wairarapa district will be continued."
