NEW TRAFFIC RULES
PARKING OF CARS BUSY AND NARROW STREETS The City Council decided last night; on the recommendation of the bylaw* committee, that parking should be prohibited at:— Courtenay Place, on botli sides la the portion lying Cambridge Terrace and the western 'side of Blair Street v • •■ '■>■<■. " ; 'V Customhouse Quay, on the west side between Panama Street ;< and Grey Street (This, is the frontage of the General Post Office.) For a distance of two chains on either side of the roadway immediately opposite,all suburban tramway termini, with the exception of Karori, where this will apply at the tramway stop at the Karori Council Chamber. Hunter Street, between Featherstoa Street and Customhouse Quay, south side, and in McKenzie Terrace. 1 The council also decided that the one-way traffic ;riile shall be adopted in Sydney. Street west, near the cemetery, west-bound; traffic to use tht high-level road* and east-bound traffic the low-level road; - PARKING AT DANCE HALLS. A further recommendation from the bylaws committee' was 'that the previous resolution prohibiting parking at Hill Street after .10 pxa. should be amended to provide for parking to be prohibited after 10 p.m.',in the portion of this street between Guildford Terrace and Tinakori Road only Jn the meantime, but that the whole question of parking outside all dance halls will be reconsidered in view of the representations made to the, council on the matter. ' " ■ ■ The City Engineer has been authorised to continue taking a tally of the traffic in, the city from time to time and the preparation of graphs and diagrams in this connection. TAXIS IN BRANDON STREET. Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop). I before the adoption of the report, said his attention had been drawn to the fact that the whole of the D.1.C.. front, age and a little more on the south side of Brandon Street was now reserved as a taxi stand. Formerly there was a stand allowing five or six taxis. He had had many complaints about the present position. "You will see the stend vacant," added the Mayor, "and yet motorists are prohibited from parking in this area. I suggest that the matter might be looked into. It seenw to me that the stand might be cut down by half." The matter is to be gone into.
