LIFT TRAGEDY
.» • BODY IDENTIFIED AFFAIR A MYSTERY (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) AUCKLAND, September 17. The body found at noon today at the bottom of a lift well in Cooke's Building, Queen Street, was later identified as that of Mr. H. F. Churton, aged 63. married, a well-known indent agent, of Mount Eden. Mr. : Churton occupied an office on the fifth floor, and his hat and attache case were found in the automatic lift, which was on the sixth floor. How he fell into the lift well is a mystery. The lift was tested by experts and the mechanical locking devices on the lift and at each floor were found to be in working order.
