FINAL WORK AT AWAPUNI (Special to the “Evening Post'.") PALMERSTON N, This Day. The conditions could hardly have been worse for track work at Awapuni yesterday morning, and horses with engagements at Foxton were required to plough their way through water. To quote one prominent horseman, “The conditions were worse than at any time during the winter. ’ Among the first to work were Vonm Park, Martara, and Pickmeup, and their task was half a mile on the course proper, ‘where, the flags were out in the middle. They looked not unlike three, motor-boats as they swept across the • top, and over the last bit Vonia Park - and Martara drew away from Pickmeup and completed the distance in about a minute. , ' Cloudv Bay galloped half a mile on her own.' and was not under pressure to complete in Imin 2sec, Dungarvan was restricted to a strong working gallop over a mile. She had been a bit sore, and there is a chance she will not start at Foxton. .
