EANFURLY SHIELD SADLER NOT PLAYING WELLINGTON'S CHALLENGE For the-Ranfurly-Shield match with Otago at Dunedin tomorrow Wellington's Rugby team will be without the New Zealand half-back, B. S. Sadler. After last Saturday's Test in Dunedin Sadler returned to Wellington, the intention being that he should leave Wellington again last night to play in the Shield match., Sadler, however, was not quite well enough to make the rush trip back to. Dunedin. His place, will be taken by E. W. Tindill, another member of last year's New Zealand team, who reverted to his accustomed position as half. on coming back from the tour of the Home counties. TindiU has proved himself a match winner so often that;his inclusion.in the team will cause no concern; in: fact, there is always the chance that his goalkicking boots may be a big help. Wellington's challenge is regarded as the hardest that Otago has to meet this season.-. To meet it the holders.are at fine strength, with J. Hore as the leader. Otago have already defended the Shield against challenges by Southland, Auckland, Manawatu, South Canterbury, Canterbury, and North Auckland this season. -The list-of wins is convincing, but some of theigames have been very hard to win, and it is to be expected that tomorrow's match will be another of this kind. , A Press Association message from Dunedin today states that Smith, the Otago centre-three-quarter, injured an ankle when boarding a tramcar last night. H. F. Fookes replaces Smith in the Otago team. Pollock, the Wellington full-back, is to <play. : The teams are as follows:

WELLINGTON. Full-back: Pollock. Three-quarters: Edwards* Fleming, Nees. Five-eighths: Griffiths, Baldwin. Halfback: Tindill, Back-row forward; Andrews. Middle-row forwards: Wells, Fraser Smith, Devine, Lamason (captain). Front-row forwards: Leahy, Lambourn, Hull. OTAGO. Full-back:..Taylor..'. , ~ ..-.. '\. > ■, Watt, Fookes,. Black. Five-eighths: Gillies, Trevathan. : Half-back: Sinion: . . : : Back-row forward: Forman. Middle-row forwards: Parkhill, Vorrath, Green, Niven. Front-row forwards: . Quaid, Laney, Hore (captain). Spectators at Athletic Park tomorrow afternoon will be kept in touch with the progress of the Ranfurly Shield match, arrangements having been made by the Wellington Rugby Union to have progress scores posted at the Park. ; ' -- ; ' : .

WANGANUI-WELLINGTON , BRIGHT CAME LIKELY. Good, measure, of success .has come Wanganui's way in-.this season's Rugby, and there is the, prospect of' a very bright. showihg;:'.by wangaiiui'i representatives when they step out against Wellington on Athletic. Park tomorrow afternoon. There, have been occasions in the past when Wanganui. has turned on great football, and there is the material in the side this year to produce touches of the spectacular play which, through Belliss and others, has brought Wanganui into prominence in the past. In the visitors' • ranks for tomorrow's match is one ex-All Black, BullockDouglas, who will be remembered.as a wing-three-quarter of some account. Brogdeh and Lpckett are others who have risen high in the game, and there is a lot of very promising material. Wellington's team is almost the same | as that which recently toured the East] Coast, Poverty Bay, and Southern Hawke's Bay districts, finishing up with a runaway victory at Danne-' virke last. Saturday. There is good reason to expect* therefore, that, on the form which both teams have shown a spectacular and entertaining display should be offering at Athletic Park tomorrow. '■': The teams are:—. WANGANUI. Full-back:. Welch, Three-quarters: Bullock-Douglas, Barton, Burgess. . Five-eighths: Jones, Thompson. : Half-back: Brogden. Back-row forward: Lockett (captain).
