IMMODEST HAIR CURLING
Hair curling is "immodest, expensive, dangerous, and a device of the devil." That is what the sponsors of a new campaign, to protect the morals of Cantonese women say in a petition requesting the South-west Political Council to place hair curling under an official ban. The petition declares that Chinese, women have become so concerned about their looks that they even risk their lives to beautify themselves. It supports this contention by adding that a dancer in a Shanghai cabaret was burned to death while having her hair curled.
