THE KING'S APPRECIATION

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.

(Received September 17, 9.20 a.m.)

LONDON, September 16.

Major A. H. L. Hardinge, Assistant Private Secretary to the King, in a letter to Sir Fabian Ware, Permanent Vice-Chairman of the Imperial WaiGraves Commission, on behalf of the King, states: "The King wishes the members of the Imperial War Graves Commission, to know how deeply he was impressed by the beauty of the cemeteries at Gallipoli Peninsula and by the care with which the war graves on the battlefields of Helles, Anzae, and Suvla are being tended. His Majesty was glad to have the opportunity of seeing another example of the fine work of the War Graves Commission, representing all the peoples of the British Empire united in a common task. The King trusts that the knowledge of this work • may bring comfort to all in this country and also in Australia, New Zealand, and India who mourn the dead of the Dardanelles campaign." '
