FRESH-WATER FISH
COST OF RESEARCH WORK
The Fisheries Amendment Bill, introduced into the House of Representatives last night by Governor-General's Message, provides for the making of regulations by requiring acclimatisation societies. to contribute out of licence fees received by them towards the cost of research undertaken in relation to fresh-water fisheries.
The Minister. oi: Marine (the Hon. P. Fraser) explained that it was proposed that the licence fee should be increased from £1 to 255, and portion of the extra revenue would be used for the purpose of defraying the cost of research work, which would be carried out by the Marine Department.
