COMMUNITY SING
The announcement that the Australian comedian, Mr. Vincent Ryan, would lead the singing at the community sing yesterday attracted a crowd to t'.ie Grand Opera House that the building was quite unable to cope with; indeed, it is doubtful if a building twice the size could have accommodated all the people who tried to gain admittance. As a result of Mr. Ryan's efforts more than £52 was collected at the sing, and the chairman of the committee, Mr. E; Palliser, expressed his personal thanks and the gratitude of the committee for his generous help. At the conclusion of the singthe audience sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." The other song leaders were Mr. Will Mason and Mr. Harold Hindle, and Mr. Frank Crowther was at the piano.
