THE LATE J. H. OWEN
The death of Mr. J. H. Owen, Seatoun, willbe deeply regretted by many who took an active part in radio during the early days of the hobby, writes an ex-secretary of the Wellington Amateur Radio Society. The late Mr. Owen was for some years president of the Wellington Amateur Radio Society, and was keenly interested in air matters appertaining to radio. He took a serious view of the future of wireless, both from an entertaining and a cultural point of view. He has been proved correct in his early opinion that the microphone would prove to be a tremendous power if used properly. The late Mr. Owen believed in. good music, and his several tours abroad amongst the major, broadcasting stations, and his insight into the work of the 8.8.C., placed him in the position of being able' to impart the best of knowledge to members of the society and his many friends. The late Mr. Owen was a very enthusiastic listener, and was always up to date in his radio receivers. He. was, too, keenly interested in mechanics, and possessed a wonderful lathe and other appliances at his private workshop at SeatoUn.
