PROGRAMMES FOR THE WEEK

Following are brief details of the programmes to be broadcast to New Zealand by the 8.8.C. Empire shortwave transmitting stations during the week commencing tomorrow. The programmes commence daily at 5.45 p.m., and may "fie heard on the, following wavelengths:—GSD, 25.53 metres; GSB, 31.55 metres.

Sunday.—Sunday's religious service will be broadcast from St. Paul's Cathedral, London. At 6.36 Sigurd Rascher (saxophone) and George Parker (baritone) may be heard in a recital, followed, at 7.21 by a musical interlude.

Monday.—A studio concert will open Monday's programme. At 6.15 the ninth talk in the series "Sea Harvests" will be broadcast. This will be followed, at 6.35, by a programme. by the 8.8.C. Empire Orchestra.

Tuesday.—"Penny Coloured," described as a "gentle satire" is the opening feature on Tuesday's programme. At 6.21 a talk on South African literature will be broadcast, followed by a programme of chamber music. Wednesday.—A ballad concert by Vera Siddons (soprano) and George Pizzey (baritone) will open the programme on Wednesday. At 6.15 a talk on "Foreign Affairs" may be heard. At 6.30 a further instalment of "Empire Magazine" will be presented, followed at 7 p.m. by a programme by the 8.8.C. Dance Orchestra.

Thursday.—The programme scheduled for Thursday includes a play at 5.45, a cinema organ recital at 6.16, a talk at 6.44, and a variety programme at 7.25.
