PETONE RIFLE CLUB
The annual general meeting of the Petone Rifle Club was held recently, Mr. W. M. Jackson presiding over a very good attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet wete adopted with little discussion and the following officers were appointed for the coming season:—Patron, Mr. S. y. Burridge; president, Mr. W. M. Jackson; deputy presidents. Messrs. R- E. Flaws, A. Weir, and W. H. Ballinger; committee, Messrs. R. H. Nicholl, J. C. Ashman, C. Lusty, P. Stewart, and T. B. Richards; selection committee, Messrs. R. H. Nicholl, W. M. Jackson, W. H. Ballinger, and T. J. Chapman; handicapper, Mr. Arthur Ballinger; results secretary, Mr. S. C. Higgms; auditor, Mr. T. J. Chapman; delegates to Wellington Rifle Association, Messrs. J. C. Ashman, R. H. Nicholl, and P. Stewart; postponement committee. Messrs. W. M. Jackson, A. Weir, and C. Lusty; ammunition stewards, Messrs. W. Scambary, A. Scott, and w. M. Jackson. \ Ten new members-were proposed, and all members, look forward to a very successful season. ' ' ", It was reported that the Wellington Rifle Association had adopted the smaller bulls' eye at the 800; and 900 yard distances, also the larger aiming marks at the 300-yard distance.
The opening day for the season was fixed for September 26.and it is hoped that as many of the older members of the club as possible will attend. ■ The handsome cup presented by the natron, Mr. S. V. Burridge, during the season was competed for, the first win-i ncr being T. McNab.
