JUMP FROM MOVING TRAM.
Charged with alighting from a tramcar while it was in motion, George Clarke, who did not appear, was fined 10s and costs by Mr. Raymond Ferner, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Mr. A. R. Cooper conducted the prosecution for the City Council. Andrew Morrison, a salesman, said , that on August 18 he was driving along 1 Moxham Avenue at about 10.40 p.m., following a tramcar. He saw, a man jump right in front of his car, and, having first-class brakes, was able to stop immediately. The man's foot •was hit, however. Witness explained that the defendant lived in Moxham Avenue, and by jumping off the car before it stopped he, saved .himself a walk back along the road.
