CHILDREN'S PANTOMIME.
Rehearsals are under way for the production by talented Wellington children of that spectacular and.everpopular pantomime "Aladdin." ' The production is the original work of Mr. Assheton Harbord, who has been an active member of the theatrical profession for many years, and who composed "atmospheric music" in Hollywood studios before the advent of "talkies." Mr. Harbord has been a producer and stage director in various parts of the world and will produce this pantomime on a scale hitherto unknown in children's performances in New Zealand. Mr. Joseph Knowsley will direct the ballets. There are approximately one hundred children performing, each of whom has been carefully selected. The pantomime is said to be exceedingly humorous, and the music bright and full of melody A distinctive feature of the production willbe the snappy chorus work—which has a definite flavour of the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. The public may look forward with anticipation to this production, which is booked for the early part of December.
