MEN REDUCE HOURS

INVERCARGILL, Sept. 16.
As the result of employees refusing to work on Saturdays for the past two weeks, the King Solomon deep lead mine at Waikaia has been, working a five-day week. The men decided to reduce their working hours from 48 to 40 from the beginning of this month. and the management of the company, declares that their action was taken without consultation with the emP Several of the men stated today that they had no intention of reverting to the six-day week of 48 hours.- They, declared that the manager had made no comment on their . decision not to work on Saturdays, and had not approached them to resume Saturday, work.
