THE TEA MARKETS
Owing to the tea trade holiday in Colombo last week no sale was held, resulting in larger offerings being collected over two weeks, according to private advices received in Wellington. A very strong demand for all descriptions. resulted in common teas advancing id a lb and better grades by id to id. Very small supplies are coming to hand. Quality is average for the time of the year. The Calcutta and London markets were about steady.

DUNEDIN, September 16. Mr. L. M. Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea sale of September 15: Owing to the annual tea trade holiday last week an increased quantity of 2,125,0001b was offered at yesterday's auction. Common kinds were id dearer, while medium and fine teas, were also id firmer at the close of the sale; 1,500,0001b is catalogued for the auction next week.
