ENJOYABLE TOUR

MR. A. C. MITCHELL'S DOINGS

(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, August 19. Mr' A C. Mitchell (Wellington), who ! represented the Hew Zealand employers at the International Labour Conference at Geneva in June, has been enjoying a six weeks' holiday an England and Scotland. He arrived m London from Geneva early in July, when he was still feeling the effects of an injury he-suffered in. a train accident at Waterloo. After a fortnight's rest at the Isle of Arran (Scotland), he felt considerably better and set off on a 600-mile tour of the Highlands by motor-car, which he. chartered privately. He enjoyed the trip immensely, and particularly a visit to Strathes Castle, Deeside, where he was entertained by Sir James -and Lady Burnett. Mr. Mitchell also paid a visit to Glasgow with the intention of seeing something of the engineering works there. Unfortunately, he ai> rived at a time when the yards were closed for a fortnight's annual holiday. Nevertheless, he saw something: of the shipping activity on the banks, of the Clyde by taking a run down to Greenock, counting no fewer than 43 new ships in various stages of construction on the ways. Before he sails for New Zealand on the Rangitiki on September 17 Mr. Mitchell proposes to spend a month, inspecting engineering works at Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, and London. His injury no longer troubles him. "I'm having a great time," he declared, "and I feel 100 per cent."
