SMALL TABLE FINAL

The filial of the annual. Wellington small table handicap billiard tournament was conducted last night at Billiards, Ltd.'s showrooms, when E. A. Josling, who conceded 75 -points, defeated H. R. Tunley, 300-287. .

Tunley was first to strike form, and soon after the commencement of the game he compiled a .break of 54, in which he played a number of difficult strokes and maintained good position throughout. He followed up this break with a 39 shortly afterwards. Up to this stage Josling had,, had few opportunities, but a little carelessness on the part of his opponent enabled him to make a break of 33, which he followed with a series in the vicinity of 15 to 19. This brought him up within striking distance. By steady play Josling brought his figures up to 244 against his opponent's 248, and shortly afterwards took the lead. From then on the lead alternated, but Josling, eventually- ran out with Tunley still requiring 13 points. The best breaks were: Josling 33, 22, 27; Tunley 54 and 39.

The manager of Billiards, Ltd., presented the winner with the Challenge Cup and a small silver replica. The runner-up was presented with the set Of balls, with which the final was played, and Mr. A. Armstrong with a cue for making the highest break outside the finalists. . ,

Injuries to two of his toes were suffered by'E. Hart, a waterside worker, of 12 Douro Avenue, when he was knocked from his bicycle by a motorcar at the corner of Taranaki and Buckle Streets shortly after 7 p.m. yesterday.
