MRS. P. B. COOKE ENTERTAINS

'Wellington friends of Mrs. 'F. H. Cooke, of Palmerston North, who is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Philip B. Cooke, were entertained at a tea party which Mrs. Philip Cooke gave at her home in Halswell Street yesterday afternoon in honour of her guest. Those present were Lady Hosking, Mrs. L. O. H. Tripp, Mrs. Stanton Harcourt and Miss Annette Harcourt, Lady Reed, Mrs. Robert Browning, Lady Elliott, Mrs. David Smith, Mrs. Claude Weston, Mrs. P. Marshall and Miss Patricia Marshall, Mrs.-Mazengarb. Mrs. Kiely, Mrs. Alec Young, Miss Elsmie Ward, Mrs. Duncan. Stout, Mrs. Fred Ward, Mrs. Philip Hanna, Mrs. E, M. Hunt, Mrs. Ernest Blundell, Mrs. Vincent Wai-d, Mrs. Bowerbank, Mrs. R. W. Kane, Mrs. Camille Malfroy, Mrs. Ken Guy, Mrs.Morgan Duncan, Mrs. Ormond Cooper, Miss Gra.ce Booth, and Miss Lorna Brodie.

Tea wa's served in the dining-room and in the centre of the polished table there was a little round "bowl"""of ■■primroses" and graps hyacinths. In the drawing-room, where a bright fire burned in the primrosecoloured stone fireplace, branches of apple and plum blossom blended with the- powder-pink walls, and small bowls of mauve primroses and. others of deep blue forget-me-nots repeated the colours in the glazed chintz, cur■tains and^ftimishmgs.
