ITALIAN PREPAREDNESS
INTERNATIONAL SITUATION
ROME, September 12. Extraordinary appropriations are announced for the army, the navy, and the air force, "in order to raise military preparations to the necessities of the international situation within a limited period." Italy's policy of self-sufficiency in raw materials is being vigorously continued. Special measures are being taken to raise the birth-rate, including prizes for twins. Cabinet has decided lo.increa.se the basic salaries of State employees by 18 per cent.
