THE TEA MARKETS
According to private advices rbceived in Wellington the market for common and low-medium teas at the Colombo tea auction this week was. strong and active, prices advancing about id a lb. Medium and better grades were Jd to id a lb dearer, with-best teas selling according to quality. Quality continues to be useful. There was an active market ,at Calcutta, prices generally being firmer. The London market was firm to dearer.- ■ ' ,' There will .be no sale at Ceylon next week. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, September 2. Mr. L. M. Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of September I:—At yesterday's Sale of 1,500,0001b; quotations for common tea advanced {d, and medium and fine teas about \A to id, the advance being due to keen London buying. The next sale will be held on September 15.
