TAXES MUCH LOWER
THE VICTORIAN BUDGET
MELBOURNE, August 4.
The Victorian Budget, which was presented in the .Legislative Assembly, makes provision, for substantial reductions of taxation and complete restoration of public servants' salary cuts. Concessions to taxpayers total £280,000. The super-land tax of 5 per cent, will be abolished, and the unemployment relief tax is being reduced by 10 per cent. Revenue for the year was £23,923,000, and expenditure £24,038,----000, leaving a deficit of £115,000. The estimated deficit in the coming year is £110,000.
