Campbell, .moved at the annual meeting of the organisation yesterday: "That as a gesture of co-operation with hospitals and as one of the best means of assuring the installation of the exercise pool form of treatment being available for cripples, the executive recommends that the. respective branches concerned .offer each of the four main hospitals at Auckland, Christchurch,-: and Dunedin, £250 each towards the.cost of installing at each of these hospitals an under-water exercise pool." ■ V ;

Mrs. Knox Gilmer said it was; intended by the Wellington; branch directly it received the £473 from'the Nuffield Trust to immediately assist in the establishment of an exercise pool at the Wellington Hospital. The treatment had proved very successful at Dunedin.

Dr. L.Wiir (Christchurch) said that since the ■ infantile paralysis' epidemic in 1921 there had been a modified exercise pool for treatment of such cases. He thought that if further equipment was necessary, the hospitals and not the societies should provide it.

It was agreed that the remit be referred back for. further1 consideration of the executive, and that'branches be informed that t}je meeting did not disapprove ,of independent action being taken by any branch..
