DOUBLE TITLE

CHALLENGE BY JARVIS

(Received August 5, 1.20 p.m.)

SYDNEY, This Day. The New Zealand lightweight boxing champion, Jack Jarvis, has challenged the Australian lightweight champion. Alf Blatch, for the championship of Australia and New Zealand.

The "Daily Telegraph" points out that this is a unique challenge as, only Australian titles are recognised here. Jarvis has not been in Australia the requisite six months to enable him to challenge for the Australian title, but he is so anxious to meet Blatch under championship conditions that he has issued this challenge.

Since Ins arrival in Australia Jarvis has rapidly forced his way to the front.

Under the present rules it is impossible for Jarvis to qualify for both titles as his New Zealand title lapses after, he has been out of the Dominion for three months.—("Aeneas.")
