SHORTER WEEK
LABOUR IN AUSTRALIA
THE CONFERENCE AIMS

ADELAIDE, This Day. A 30-hour working week has been adopted as an objective of the Labour movement by the Federal Labour Conference, deletion of the former objective of 40 hours being recommended by the industrial committee of the conference.
Although the principle of a 30-hour week is now part of its platform, the conference does not regard this as immediately feasible and has reaffirmed the 40-hour week in practice in resolutions asking the Australian Governments to introduce it.
