FAIR TO FINE

WITH NORTHERLY WINDS

Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather fair to fine and mild.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for northerly winds still predominating. These will be light to moderate in force, but will freshen, especially in and south of Cook Strait. Fair to fine weather will be general at first, but unsettled conditions with some rain will develop later on the west coast of the South Island. Temperatures will be mild.

Very little change has taken place in pressure since yesterday. An anticyclone still extends across the North Island to the eastward, while slight depressions are passing in the south. A moderate depression is now located over the south-western portion of the Tasman Sea. Light to moderate northerly breezes have ruled, and the weather has been fair to cloudy and rather mild. Light showers have fallen in a few isolated places, mainly on the west coast of the South Island.

Auckland's weather has been fair to cloudy with an easterly breeze.

Wellington had a fine and mild day yesterday, although it was cloudy at times.; A light northerly breeze prevailed. Hours of bright sunshine yesterday totalled 6.4. In Christchurch it was fine, although mostly cloudy, and an easterly breeze prevailed. The night was clear, and a frpst of five degrees was recorded. The weather this morning was fine and. bright with a light south-westerly wind. Dunedin had a calm and pleasant day.. the morning being sunny and the afternoon overcast. It was clear there i this morning, and a gentle' northerly I breeze was blowing.
