THE MINIMUM WEIGHT

The question of the minimum: weight in flat races was brought before the delegates at the Racing Conference last week by Mr. J. S. McLeod, the president.

Mr. McLeod said that the Minister of Internal Affairs had expressed the opinion that, from a humanitarian point of view, the minimum weight in flat races should be raised to 7.7.

There was no discussion, but the following motion was carried:—"That it be a strong recommendation from this annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference to district committees and clubs that in approving or framing the conditions of all handicap flat races a minimum weight of not less than 7.7 be prescribed."
