TIMBER TRADE.
The State Forestry Department has issued the following figures, supplied by the Comptroller of Customs, relating to the Dominion's timber trade during May:— . Imports (values). —From Australia, £17,083 (mainly hardwoods); Canada, £5625. (including Douglas fir, £4564); Lithuania, £1056; Japan, £1964 (including oak), £1720; U.S.A., £1569; Sweden, £4685 (timber for butter boxes); others, £630. •'.' Exports: To Australia, £22,062; Pacific Islands, £1804.
. The' output of motor vehicles is reported by The Hague Statistical Office as 1,418,000 in the first quarter of 1936, against 1,361.000 in the corresponding period of 1935.
