MR. JOHN KILMISTER

THE KING'S MESSAGE

Mr. John Kilmister, of Cottleville Terrace, Wellington, who celebrated his hundredth birthday yesterday, received the following cable message from his Majesty the King:—

The King is much interested to hear that you are celebrating, your 100th birthday, and sends you hearty

congratulations and good wishes.

The following messages and many others were also received by'Mr. Kilmister:'—

The Governor-Ge.neral, Lord Galway: "Lady Galway and I send you our warmest congratulations and good wishes on this your 100th birthday. We hope you are keeping well."

The Prime Minister (the Rt.- Hon. M. J. Savage): "I have been very much interested in hearing that you celebrate today your 100th birthday, and I extend to you my very hearty congratulations and good wishes. May good health long remain with you."

The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. ] A. Hislop: "I wish to take this oppor- j tunity of extending to you on behalf of your fellow-citizens congratulations on the attainment of your 100th birthday. Your long, vigorous, active, and [Useful life should be an inspiration; to all those who follow on in the work of the development of the city."

The Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) and Mr. C. H. Chapman, member of Parliament for the electorate in which Mr. Kilmister lives, also telegraphed their congratulations.

Mr. W. Toomath sent a message on behalf of the Early Settlers' and Historic Association of Wellington.
