OTAKI HEALTH CAMP

LADIES' AUXILIARY

A special meeting of the ladies' auxiliary of the Otaki Health Camp was held recently to make arrangements for the play, "A Modern Judgment of Paris," whicli Mrs.'Nellie Cruttenden had kindly 'offered to produce for the benefit of the camp funds. Mrs". E. R. Myers, Miss Marjorie.Vause, and Mr. Joe Knowsley had also offered to assist, and a very fine programme was arranged. The entertainment will be held in the Concert Chamber on Thursday, July 16, and it is hoped that a great number of people will avail themselves of this opportunity of spending an enjoyable evening and also helping a very worthy cause'.

Mrs. E. R. Myers was in the chair, and reported that arrangements were well in hand for theXplay. Messrs. Begg and Co. had kindly offered to book the 2s seats, and the box plan was opened on Monday, July 6. Mr. C. Meachen promised to arrange for the senior Hovers to act as doorkeepers and ushers, and Girl Guides,will sell programmes. Mrs. A. Dunn will be in charge of a sweet stall.

A card party is being arranged for a later date and a jumble sale for September. Funds are still badly needed, as the camp is taking in about 80 children weekly. The secretary reported that 100; yards of material had been purchased to make sleeping suits, which were urgently needed for the children at the camp. Any ladies who would help in the making of suits should send their names and addresses to Mr. C. Meachen, Ambulance Hall, Vivian Street, telephone 51-648. Miss "Williams (Day's Bay branch) paid in £2 9s from bridge parties.

Mrs. Sutherland (Miramar) attended the meeting and reported that she had a girls' sewing club which was working for a bazaar to be held later.
