RETURNS AND REPORTS

The Waimunui dredge return was 330z Bdwt for the fortnight ended :July 11. I DUNEDIN, July 14. The Paddy's Point Gold Mining Company reports a. return of 61oz 14dwt for 31 days' sluicing.

ADDISON'S FLAT

The annual report of the directors of the Addison's Flat Gold Mining Company, Ltd., for the year ended March 31, 1936, slates that the mine was closed from October, 1935, to January, 1936, while plant was being shifted to a new claim on Gallagher's Lead. The cost of this move, including laying new pipe-line, was approximately £■2200, of which £512 was outstanding at close of the financial year. For the remainder of the period, sluicing was carried on with little interruption, and £3000 worth of gold was recovered. Since work was commenced on Gallagher's Lead, returns have been satisfactory, though not as good as was anticipated. As the company has had to meet the expenses of shifting the plant, the directors regret that it has not been possible to provide for a dividend for the past year. WORK AT QUEENSTOWN.

There is still considerable gold mining activity in the Queenstown district, according to the Dunedin "Star" The secretary of the Arthur's Point Sluicing Cpmpany reports that the company secured 113oz sd\vt Bgr for the period March 1 to June 24. Central Shotover at Deep Creek is getting a handsome return. Sandhills has closed down for the winter, but Short and party at Peat's Terrace are still working. Several other claims are carrying .out development work preparing for the spring. It is reported that Atley Brothers, who have been working in' the Shotover, have had a very large wash-up. CROMWELL ACTIVITIES.

A contract has been let for driving the low-level <tunnel at the Bendigo mine another 150ft (reports the "Otago Daily Times"). The contractors, who come from the Lakes District, arrived at the claim last week, and have made a start. In the course of a few weeks the future of this once-famous property sIV?,H Id tb. e known. It is understood that some of the original licences are expiring and that those interested have been busy repegging. The Electrolytic Zinc Co., Ltd., has advised the New Zealand Stock Exchange Association that a dividend of ?, pe£ S* nt was declared yesterday for the half-year ended June 30, 1936, on both preference and ordinary shares, making 10 per cent, for the year. The dividend is payable on September 10 to shareholders registered on July 30. Last year's distribution was 8 per cent, on the preference and 5 per cent on the ordinary shares.
