TRAFFIC IN LOWER HUTT
A suggestion that it was time more attention was given to traffic control in the borough was made by Councillor Ashton at the.meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council last night.
The Mayor in reply stated that the council had been waiting to see if the Government was going to take action. As it now appeared that the Government was not going to take control, the joint committee set up by Petone and Lower Hutt to discuss joint action would now function.
The Engineer and the works committee at the request of Councillor Dowse will report on the question of the visibility of traffic approaching the bridge from Victoria Street.
The council officers were asked to report on the better control of traffic on Melling bridge, Councillor Dallenger stating that as many as five cars were on the bridge at one time.
