RUGBY FOOTBALL

INTER-COLLEGE MATCH

WELLINGTON AND ST. PAT.'S

One of the big events of the year so far as secondary school Rugby is concerned is to take place at Athletic Park tomorrow afternoon,' when the first fifteens of Wellington College-and St. Patrick's College will meet *in their annual match. For very many years the occasion has been one to arouse much interest, and display of ■ ehthusias: n' of the boys of the colleges, assembled in the main on the western bank of the Park, has been an event in itself: no t only for the boys but also for the many others who find a real thrill in college Rugby. Matches between Wellington and SV Patrick's" Colleges date back to 1884, arid victories during the long period have been fairly evenly shared. Last year's match was quite a stirring one, though very much in favour of St. Patrick's, who won by 23 points to 3.

Tomorrow's match promises to be one of the best' of recent years, with the young and talented' participants producing a high-quality Rugby display. The teams play" in the third grade competition, and in their last engagement the ."Wellington College boys won handsomely by 27 : points to 3, and, with other convincing wins before that, they should be a very much stronger force for, St. Patrick's College to contend with than was the case last year. Play is timed to commence at 3 p.m. Other teams from the two colleges will meet in a preliminary to the main match. . ■
