BALL AT ISLAND BAY

PLUNKET SOCIETY EFFORT

-The Masonic Hall, Island Bay, was effectively decorated with gailycoloured, lampshades and clusters of balloons on Saturday evening when the Island Bay committee of the Plunket Society held its annual ball.

Early in the evening Miss Merle Stewart, on behalf of the committee, pre-; sented Mrs. B. O'Brien with a dainty posy as a token of their appreciation of her work as president.

An excellent orchestra provided the music, and Miss Nellie Smith played the extras. Mr. A. Pope made an efficient M.C. :

An exhibition of the slow .fox. troj, and the rumba, given by Miss Mbynahan and Mr. Cottier, was enthusiastically' applauded. Prizes for novelty dances were won by Mr. and Mrs. Petrie (Monte- Carlo) and Miss Joyce Russel and partner (lucky spot). An excellent buffet supper was served. ; • The committee responsible for the arrangements comprised Mrs. B. O'Brien (president), Mrs. P. Allen, Mrs. Buckland, Mrs. J. H. Dunn, Mrs. A. Lake, Mrs.. P.
