BRITISH TRADE'S FALL

LONDON, June 6. An enormous decrease in Britain's wool exports to Italy has occurred as a result of the sanctions imposed upon that country by the League of Nations Britain s wool trade during the first four months of this-year, it is stated y ,,nthe Board of Trade, has fallen to £6881 m value as compared with £221,403 during the same period last year and £255,877 for the JanuaryApril period in 1934.

The export of British wool to Italy dropped from 1,264.0001b during Jan-uary-April last year to 81,0001b this year, while wool tops declined from 484,000 to 26,000. Last year the foreign and colonial re-export of wool totalled 434,0001b, woollen tissues 452,0001b, and worsted tissues 118,0001b. None of these commodities were sent to Italy this year.

The requisition price of the Italian 1936 wool clip was fixed this week at 23 lire 20 centimes per kilo, equivalent to 3s 4d per pound at current rate This price was for the very best quality puglia. Lower prices have been fixed for other qualities.
