RUGBY SELECTION

HAWKE'S BAY MATCH

WELLINGTON PLAYERS

The preliminary selection of Wellington Rugby players for the match with Hawke's Bay, to be played at Athletic Park on August 1, has been made by Mr. M. F. Nicholls, and the chosen players are to commence special training this week. The selection is as follows:— - ' ■ 'Backs: W. Crisp (Eastbourne), H. R. Pollock (Petone), L. Edwards (Wellington), A. G. Sadler (Wellington College Old Boys). Forwards: A. H. Andrews (Hutt), J. R. Lamason (Wellington College Old Boys), K. Guy (Athletic), J. Wells (Athletic), F. Fraser Smith (Wellington), M. W. Devine (Hutt), C. Pririgle (Poneke), P. Leahy (Marist Brothers Old Boys), A. Lamboum (Petone), R. R. Hilll (Poneke),- M. Wright (Wellington College Old Boys}, C. M. Ongley (Poneke). ■''■■' The backs are to train at the Poneke gymnasium on Wednesday night, commencing at B.o'clock, and the forwards are to train at the same gymnasium on Thursday night, also at 8 p.m. HAWKE'S BAY TEAM. The selection of the Hawke's Bay Rugby team to meet Wairarapa on Saturday is of interest in view of Hawke's Bay's engagement with Wellington a fortnight later. The team is: J. Bassett; E. Apsey, G. Grant, W.Johnson; A. Aldrich, L. Bradley; L. Clothier; C. H. Rolls, J. O'Brien, S. T. Reid, M. Miller, Hawea Mataira, L. Hannigaß, D. Dalton, and E. Jackson. Emergencies: E. T.'Moss; C. Wilson.
