BEAUTY IN TREES
(To the Editor.) Sir,— "Taupata" is certainly to bo congratulated on his article which appeared in Wednesday's issue of The Post" in which he makes a fine appeal for the planting of natives. It is a contribution of- reason and common sense, and embraces the most important point-that of using such native trees as are suitable to sou ! and weathl? conditions of Wellington. That the Wellington Beautifying Society has overlooked or ignored this point is only too apparent—that is, it its meetings, Press reports, and plantings are to be taken as a criterion. The society's appeal for more public support would be responded to if it would only give way to, a.more reasonable attitude as outlined by "Taupata."-I am, etc.,
