COLONEL MITCHELL TO
INQUIRE
Colonel G. Mitchell, who is to leave shortly lor England, was entertained by the Wellington branch of the South African War Veterans' Association last night, when arrangements were made for him to inquire into the position of South African War funds while he. is in" Britain. .Theresa fair attendance of veterans, presided over by the Wellington branch presii dint (Captain J. J. Clark), and during the evening reminiscences were.exchanged and. supper enjoyed. The toast of the departing guest was proposed by Captain Clark, who asked Colonel Mitchell to investigate ?he Position of funds that might be available for ex-Imperial soldiers in New Zealand while he was in London. Colonel Mitchell explained how war funds were distributed at the present time, and said that it would be a pleasure for him to make an effort to get a little more money for both the South Africans and other ex-Imperml men in New Zealand. The Dominion president (Mr. J. ±. Goldsmith) conveyed the good wishes of the Dominion executive to Colonel Mitchell and expressed the hope that the Colonel and Mrs. Mitchell would have a pleasant sojourn in England.
