SUCCESSFUL FIRST YEAR

Mrs. Knox Gilmer pre-1 Sl The report stated that the activities of the year had included the entertainment at luncheon of the Band of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, a Christmas party for the blind, afternoon tea every third Wednesday in the month in the clubroom at 37 Dixon Street, and many socials and kindred entertainments. Special thanks were due to theatre managements for passes willingly given to blind people and their escorts, to" the Wellington City Council for tramway concessions, and to the various clubs, firms, and friends who had done so much to assist the club and to lighten the lot of blind people generally. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. B. Sutherland; president, Mrs. Knox Gilmer; vice-presidents, the Hon. P. Fraser, the Hon. R. Semple, Dr. J. H. Beaumont, Messrs. J. Barnao, F. J Carnegie, C. H. Chapman, M.P., G. Guthrie, J. F. Lilley, W. H. Lobb, R. McKeen, M.P., B. S. Reinhardt, J. Spence, R. A, Wright, M.P., L. Vrede, Byron Brown, R. Atkinson, C. Dukes; manager, Mr. C. La Hogue; hon. secretary, Mr. D. H. Ridley; minutes secretary, Mrs. W. Downes; treasurer, Miss L. Hughes; committee, Mesdames Chapman. K. Russell, L. Vrede. Misses K. C'Shea, I. Oswald, Mr. W. Hayes; hon. solicitors. Messrs. McDonald, /Foster, and Watterson; hon. auditors, .Messrs. Meek and. Hicks.
