"A BETTER UNDERSTANDING"
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Mr. T. A. Eraser's letter on this subject opens with the assertion that "a feature of the policy of the present Government is an honest attempt to restore to many thousands a sense of self-reliance and independence." I should have said exactly the opposite, because the whole trend of the legislation is to make us all dance to whatever tune this or that Minister decides to play. Compulsory unionism, the dairy produce commandeer, etc., are antagonistic to any sense of selfreliance and independence. Judging by the legislation passed already, it is apparent that the intention of the Government Is to make the State supreme in all our activities.—l' am, etc., AJAX.
