PRISONERS AT LARGE
ESCAPE FROM HAUTU CAMP (jjy Telegraph —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 15. Two prisoners escaped from the Hautu Prison' Camp, near Tokaanu, at dusk this evening. Although a widespread search was made no trace of them had been reported at a late hour. The men are John Booth Prohl, 26 years of age, and Richard de Thierry 23 years of age, a Maori. They left camp about 5.30, after the mens tea had been served, and their disappearance was discovered ten minutes later. Escape was comparatively easy, as under the camp conditions, surveillance is necessarily restricted. The two men had vanished into the scrub country before anything in the nature of a search could be organised. Warders searched the district in cars.
