TENEDOS TO REAPPEAR
The veteran trainer W. Orange, who
for many years successfully followed his calling at Epsom and Otahuhu, is preparing three horses at Palmerston North for the. Auckland Meeting, namely Tenedos, Electric Bell, and Claudelands. Tenedos, when trained by S. A. Edwards in Canterbury a few years ago, won the Cornwall Handicap at Epsom, but his last public appearance was at Manawatu two seasons ago when he went to assist as pacemaker for Harold Logan, who was pacing an exhibition mile.
Electric Bell made a deep impression when she won at Auckland eighteen months ago and recorded 2min 47 3-5 sec off a 3min ssec mark. In her next appearance, at Hawera, she gave further proof of her capabilities by conceding 48 yards to a large field of good improvers and beating them easily. Owing to a recurring ailment, Electric Bell has started only once this season, finishing third to Silk Cord and Waving Corn in a mile race at Awapuni, when the loss of three or four seconds at the start spoilt her chance. Claudelands, a full-brother to Jackie Thorpe, whom he resembles in many respects, had his first and only start at Manawatu, where, after being checked a couple of times, he finished second to Real Pal, returning 2min 51 3-ssec off 3min ssec.
