I;i accordance with arrangement# made last week, the chiefs of staff of the Czechoslovakian and Yugoslav armies, accompanied by representatives of the principal sections, have arrived to begin a five days' conference aiming at co-ordination of the Little Entente's defences;. - The problems for discussion will include the unification of armaments, and the establishment of new armament works in Rumania and Yugoslavia, which will co-operate with Czechoslovakian factories.
The convocation of the conference is regarded in diplomatic circles as an indication of the seriousness with which the Little Entente views the situation in consequence of the weakening of the League and the breakdown of collective security.
According to a London cable on June 8, the "Daily Mail's" Bucharest correspondent said that important decisions were reached at a secret conference of heads of the Little Entente when King Carol of Rumania entertained Prince Paul of Yugoslavia ahd Dr. Benes, President of Czechoslovakia. It was understood that in view of the grave European situation and events in Franco, the Entente would be transformed into a complete alliance resulting in the chiefs of the general staffs of the three countries meeting on June 14. The "Daily Telegraph's" Bucharest correspondent said it wa» believed that the possibility of a Habsburg restoration, which the Entente fears, was discussed.
