SWERVE INTO CAR
BOY FATALLY INJURED

GREYMOUTH, This Day. An accident in Which Mr. H. Morgan, S.M., of Greymouth, was involved occurred on the Hokitika-Greymouth main highway, about a mile from Hokitika on Saturday morning, the victim being Allan Joseph Havill, aged 11, of Arahura, who died.from his injuries on Saturday night.
Mr. Morgan was returning from a Court sitting in South Westland in his motor-car, and overtook Havill, who was cycling in. the same direction. As ihe car was passing the boy he either overbalanced or swerved in towards (he middle of the road, and was struck by the rear of the left side of the car. The boy was thrown off his bicycle and fell heavily on the tarsealed highway. He received a broken leg and severe head injuries, and was immediately removed to the Westland Hospital nearby.
An inquest was opened on Sunday morning, at Hokitika before Mr. A. E. Benjamin, J.P.. Coroner, and, after evidence of identification, was adjourned 16 later in the week.
