The half-caste Same an stowaway, Pila Wilkes, a seaman, aged 20, who escaped from custody on the Aorangi on Monday and was arrested in Queen Street yesterday, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to a charge that being a prohibited immigrant he landed in New Zealand without a permit. The police said that Wilkes stowed away to Vancouver and was placed on the Aorangi, but the Fijian authorities would not allow him to land and he was continuing the voyage to Sydney when he left the vessel at Auckland. The Magistrate issued a deportation order.
