LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

FATHERS ENTERTAINED

There was an excellent attendance at the Ngaio Town Hall recently when the Ngaio branch of the League of Mothers held a "Fathers' Night." The president (Mrs. Cummings) welcomed the visitors, several representatives being present from other branches.

An interesting and helpful talk on "Gardening" was given by Mr. Waugh. Many varieties of trees and shrubs were shown and the method of planting ilnd the conditions required by each explained in a very practical way. Mr. Waugh answered several gardening queries.

A collection of fruit and vegetables very cleverly made into an attractive bouquet, by Mrs. Collins was presented to Mr. Waugh at the conclusion of his talk, Mrs. Waugh receiving a posy of flowers.

A short programme of musical and elocutionary items contributed by Mr. and Mrs. Stamp and Mesdames Theo. Hills, Wilman, and Davey added to the enjoyment of the evening.

Supper served by the members of the committee concluded a very happy meeting.
