Chirgwin, winner of this year's Newbury Summer Cup, is an Irish horse who was transferred to England by Mr. Barnett near the close of last year. Formerly trained by J. T. Rogers at The Curragh, he was only once a winner as a two-year-old and once last year, each time at The Curragh, but his minor placings Included a third in the Irish Two Thousand Guineas, won by his stablemate Museum, and a second in the Baldoyle Derby, won by African Lily, another stablemate.
