STRUCK BY A CAR
WOMAN SEVERELY INJURED
A severe lacerated wound to her right thigh was suffered by Mrs. Alice Gilbert, aged 50, when she was struck by a motor-car near the Knox Church, Lower Hutt, about 6 o'clock last evening- . ~ t, j Mrs. Gilbert, who lives in Lane Road, Trentham, had cycled to Wellington to see her husband, who is in hospital, and was on the way home when she was struck by a car, which did not stop Another motorist who was standing about three hundred yards away heard the sound of the brakes being applied, and a car passed him at. a fair speed. He hurried to the scene of the accident to find Mrs. Gilbert being attended to by bystanders. After medical attention had been given on the spot, Mrs. Gilbert was taken to hospital by the ambulance. . It is understood that the dnyer of the car reported the accident to the police today.
