STUDENT PROCESSION
FINES IMPOSED
PROFESSORIAL BAN
In addition to the ban on the student capping-week procession announced yesterday, the Professorial Board of Victoria College has decided to impose a fine of £5 on the Haeremai Club, the men's organisation .that arranged the procession on May 8, and to fine an individual student who took an active part in the procession the sum of 20s. The board considered that some of the innuendoes displayed on the lorries were not justified.
The text of the statement issued by the board is as follows:—
"The chairman of the Professorial Board of Victoria University College authorises us to state that the board, after an investigation into the conduct of the last procession, lias punished the offenders and has prohibited the holding of the procession in future."
